>Regular readers of this weblog know that I am a member of SGI and that I chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo daily. We meditate by using our voice as melodious and strong as we can and by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo we awaken our Buddhahood that is in all of us, no matter what we think of ourselves, we all have this Buddhahood.
Nichiren (1222-1282), the priest who established the form of Buddhism practiced by the members of the SGI said in one of the many letters he wrote while he was in exile:
If you wish to free yourself from the sufferings of birth and death you have endured since time without beginning and to attain without fail unsurpassed enlightenment in this lifetime, you must perceive the mystic truth that is originally inherent in all living beings. This truth is Myoho-renge-kyo. Chanting Myoho-renge-kyo will therefore enable you to grasp the mystic truth innate in all life.
One of the best parts of SGI are the meetings you can attend regularly. Yesterday I was at a women’s meeting of my district. It was intimate and deep. We shared our experiences how practicing this Buddhism changed our lives. I could not even think of one thing that changed in my life as there are so many changes. I said that I feel as if I am a different person but in a way I feel like I really became myself.
It was a very inspirational meeting and I am filled with gratitude for all those women that were present.
Change your life and make it better.
