These four doors are a fine example of ‘De Amsterdamse School’, a twentieth century Dutch way of building that has a connection with Jugendstill and Art Deco, de Stijl, The New Building (Het Nieuwe Bouwen) and The Chicago School. Amsterdamse School are mainly houses in appartment blocks and schools. The South of Amsterdam was called Plan Zuid and was designed and built by city architect H.P. Berlage.
