>LESBIAN LIFE part One

Right now we have here in Amsterdam the Pink Film Days, nine days of Gay and Lesbian movies or movies with a gay or lesbian theme.
So Saturday my girl and me went into town to see our first two films.
Our first movie was Fremde Haut or Unveiled, a German film about an Iranian Lesbian, in the brochure this is what it said: ” Fariba, a lesbian prosecuted in Iran, has fled to Germany, but her application for asylum is turned down. Her Iranian fellow-inmate commits suicide before finding out he is to receive a temporary permit. Assuming his identity, she is sent to a refugee camp near a small German village. Fariba takes an illegal job in a sauerkraut factory, where she meets Anne. The two grow close, indeed dangerously close for Fariba as Anne begins to suspect her true identity.”

When Anne finds out Fariba’s true identity, something that is not shown in the movie, Anne doesn’t seem to care at all, we see them in bed and all seems well, till Anne’s ex boyfriend and his friend and her son find out that the new boyfriend of Anne is a girlfriend. The guys beat her up and the son calls the police. Fariba is sent back to Iran. The movie ends in the plane where Fariba changes back into the clothes of her dead Iranian inmate.

What a bummer, what a sad ending. What a life.
After sighing deep and going into the icecream parlor to drink ahot chocolate we went to our second movie:

The Gymnast:
Jane was once an Olympic gymnast until an accident forced her early retirement. Unhappily married, she is drawn back to the gym where she meets gymnastics instructor Nicole and her gorgeous student Serena. Together they form an aerial dance troupe. While training for an audition in Las Vegas, Jane develops an undeniable attraction to Serena. This “must see” movie was granted several audience awards from gay festivals in L.A., San Francisco and New York.

That was such a change and so much more cheerful than the first movie. A love story with a bumb, but nevertheless – a love story.

Ik ben geboren in de jaren vijftig, ontdekte wie ik was in de jaren zestig, vond in de jaren zeventig mijn identiteit, gooide die af in de jaren tachtig, overleefde de jaren negentig, vond mijn ware zelf en werd boeddhist in de jaren nul. In de jaren tien begon ik met het organiseren van een vrolijk zwemevenement in de Amstel en haalde ik mijn zwemtrainersdiploma’s. Dat ging door in de jaren twintig. In het jaar dat ik zeventig word ga ik gewoon door. En word ik je lesbische oma.
